Sermons from Trinity Episcopal Church on Capitol Squre, Columbus, Ohio

June 17, 2007 - The Third Sunday after Pentecost

Posted by trinitycolumbus on June 18th, 2007

Sermon for the Third Sunday after Pentecost, by the Rev. Richard A. Burnett, Rector “Found in Translation…” A three-part series in June

Beginning June 10, and continuing for the next three Sundays in the sermon, the Rector explores several meanings, expressions and uses of translations that shape our lives and strengthen our faith. The old saying, “every translation is a faithful betrayal,” will be the starting point for these meditations on the uses of translation—of texts, of beliefs, of life experiences—by us in our daily lives.

Readings for this day:

1 Kings 21:1-10, (11-14), 15-21a

Psalm 5:1-8

Galatians 2:15-21

Luke 7:36-8:3
